SIMPLE MINDS: FOUR HANDS OF FATE (w/t)

With each passing day the Simple Minds story becomes as much about longevity as it does all else - including even the hundreds of songs written and thousands of performances taken place over the last forty five years.

Four Hands of Fate highlights hidden hand events that have seemingly appeared out of nowhere and propelled Simple Minds not only into its existence - but also then conspired into helping the band reboot and then sustain a career that has successfully endured for over almost five decades.

At the very heart of Simple Minds dwells the ongoing friendship between Jim Kerr and his songwriting partner Charlie Burchill who met on the streets of Toryglen, in the shadow of a brand new Glasgow council tower block in 1967 and have remained friends and collaborators ever since.

With access to previously unseen footage from family archives as well as rarities from throughout their career, this programme will follow Jim & Charlie’s ascent from the streets of South Glasgow as early punk provocateurs, through to pioneers of the new electronic indie sound, on to conquering the mainstream with a string of unforgettable hits and massive world tours before they slipped back down to earth again in to a self imposed exile, followed by an exciting renaissance with successful world tours and an acclaimed new album - Direction of the Heart.
