A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire is 300 years old, the birthplace of Winston Churchill and ancestral home to the Duke and Duchess of Marlborough.
It is one of the finest princely palaces in the world, a huge tourist attraction and a major local employer. It has a packed events calendar and we have secured access to all of them. 2024 is the 150th anniversary of the birth of Churchill and a year of special events celebrating this, are planned.
A £40 million, ten-year restoration project is beginning at the palace, and we have been given unprecedented access to the behind-the-scenes story of this magnificent example of architecture and landscaping.
Described as “The finest view in England” by Lord Randolph Churchill, father of Sir Winston, in 1874, Blenheim Palace has a centuries-old relationship with the Royal Family.
In this 4 x 60 mins series filmed over Spring and early Summer, we will follow the teams of dedicated staff and apprentices from beekeepers and shepherds to those organising events, cleaning and maintaining the priceless collections, to the caterers, gardeners and ecologists taking care of the acres of stunning landscape and through their sustainable, ecology projects, preserving the Estate for future generations.
