CAST FROM THE STORM

This observational documentary follows two inspiring teachers who defy community opposition and, with limited resources, run a program that uses theatre to help young refugees overcome trauma and rebuild their lives.

Forced into exile, hundreds of teenagers from war-torn countries start new lives in Sydney each year. While arrival in Australia may be the end of a dangerous and uncertain journey, it is also the beginning of a complex process of healing and adjustment.

At Miller Technology High School, two inspiring teachers defy community opposition and limited resources to run a program that uses theatre to help young refugees overcome trauma and rebuild their lives.

Cast from the Storm is an observational documentary that follows this remarkable process of transformation: from arriving in Australia, to performing on stage. It is a story about facing your darkest fears and discovering your potential for healing in the unlikeliest of places.
