Ernie’s love for and connection to this great southern land of Australia, along with his unique charm opens doors, disarms locals and finds the special stories held by the lands he visits where the people have become a modern part of the country’s ancient story. It’s the rangers, shop keepers, tour operators and the scientists. The small business owners, the traditional owners and the local people who by going about their everyday extraordinary lives, are writing modern chapters in an ancient story some 60,000 years old.
With destinations in each Australian state and territory, Ernie takes viewers on a special journey with all its stunning beauty and diverse characters.
The tone of the series is fun and cheeky and at times emotional but always respectful and at its heart it seeks to be a celebration of good people with a passion for what they do and how they connect with the places they live.
SEASON 1 sees Ernie visit Kings Canyon, Kununurra, Coober Pedy, Byron Bay, Palm Island and many more famous destinations with a few lesser known, special places holding special stories.
SEASON 2: Ernie Dingo explores Australia's most iconic destinations, introducing us to the people who live, breathe and work amongst these incredible places. Season 3 includes Ceduna, South Australia Bruny Island, Tasmania Lake Mungo, New South Wales Yirrkala, Northern Territory and more!
SEASON 3: From the striking colours of the culturally rich Tiwi Islands, to the panoramic landscapes of the Coorong, to the remote reaches of Winton in outback Queensland, Ernie takes you to places
steeped in culture, rich heritage and otherworldly beauty.
This season also sees the likes of Indigenous legends David Gulpilil and Kev Carmody make an appearance, as well as a guest-host cameo from Torres-Straits funny-man Aaron Fa’aoso.
SEASON 4: After travelling the country solo many times over, Ernie will be sending out some mates to help explore every corner of this great continent and discover the brilliant stories of everyday, passionate locals who call these places home. This season, Ernie will be joined by Aaron Fa’Aoso, Narelda Jacobs OAM, Rae Johnston and Bianca Hunt, and each episode features three locations.
Ernie explores the ancient forests and shifting sand dunes of Pemberton, Bianca breaks into the drag queen scene of Broken Hill and Aaron’s language and dance is put to the test back home in Bamaga.
