KENNEDY, SINATRA AND THE MAFIA

The extraordinary story of the friendship between two of the 20th century’s greatest icons; how they met, the women and secrets they shared; and how it all went so horribly wrong.

Frank Sinatra desperately wanted to be a part of the gang. He had his own famed ‘rat pack’, of course, made up of hard drinking, womanizing, louche individuals like himself – guys like Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Junior and Peter Lawford. But the guy ‘ol blue eyes’ really wanted to hang with was Lawford’s brother-in-law, the real chairman of the board, John F. Kennedy.

Both Sinatra and Kennedy had developed dubious relationships with the mafia and were hiding some dangerous secrets. The two had benefited from their contacts with organized crime figures – the mob had promoted Frank’s career and had also helped the Kennedys buy votes to win elections.

Sinatra basked in Kennedy’s glory and used his associations with the glamorous president to promote himself in the eyes of his friends and the American public. but on the evening of 20th March 1962, Frank was unexpectedly and abruptly ejected from jacks gang.

Kennedy, Sinatra and the Mafia addresses the international appetite for well-told stories. It will play to the continuing public fascination with JFK, sixty years after his death. The series will use a stylish and contemporary editing style to make the most of expertly shot present-day interviews, authentic archive footage and creative visual graphics to ensure audiences keep up with the complexities of the story and the fast-moving pace of the narrative.
