Set in the cutthroat world of pro soccer, this fresh, character - driven primetime drama is a story of millennials with huge dreams, following the players and coaches of the fictional Montreal under-21 team both on and, crucially, off the field - a story of love, crime, race, sex and athletic glory, and the players who unite as a family in this whirlwind of life, one step from the pros.
Helping to coach are Christy Cook, an Olympic hero, and Davey Gunn, a Scottish soccer superstar on the run from his past. 21 Thunder dives deep into the characters’ backgrounds as they attempt to balance life’s normal ups and downs with dramatic and extraordinary events in their lives while trying to make it in the big league.
“A really good TV show…the focus is more on the drama off the pitch than on it. Ultimately it’s football that binds all these people together.”
